Project «Integrated Junior Educational and Scientific Expedition Lake Telezkoye — 2003»

Integrated Junior Educational and Scientific Expedition Lake Telezkoye — 2003 is a joint project of the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation, Moscow Head Department of Education, District department of Education of Moscow Southern District, Moscow Committee of the Young, Moscow Committee of Interregional Relations, Lyceum #1553, Moscow Creativity Center, Moscow Center of Scientific and Technical Development and other organizations.

This project is aimed at developing a prospective educational technology — educational research of the young — and introducing it in existing educational systems.

The project pursues scientific, educational, ecological and environmental aims.

The expedition itself follows such objectives:

  • developing the program of educational research of the young,
  • obtaining experimental data, possessing certain scientific value,
  • training a corps of qualified young researchers,
  • preserving and popularization of one of the most important cultural and historical regions of Russia — The Altai Mountains,
  • environmental and educational activities in different localities of The Altai in order to disseminate environmental thinking, to preserve cultural heritage, to develop patriotic ideas among the young, to improve proficiency of teachers and other educational staff.

The priority is given to ecological research, to the identification of anthropogenic factors in pollution of water, air, soil, biomass, to the study of influence of polluting factors upon regional ecological systems, to the study of anthroprgenic influence, such as trees felling, shipping, cattle-breeding, upon the nature of the region, to studies of history and culture of the Altai population, to studying modern social and cultural processes in Altai country localities and perspectives of their development, to develop tolerance among the young.

Location of the expedition. Terms of participation.

The expedition is mostly based on camping and takes place since 10th July to 10th August 2003.

The location is the area near Lake Telezkoye as well as the territory of Altai State National Park.

This area answers the requirements for locations of junior research expedition, namely:

  • great variety of landscapes, objects for research activities in different fields (variuos landscapes, water reservoirs, villages, historical monuments, architectural monuments etc.)
  • possibility of strict security of the participants, impossibility of nature catastrophes, low rates of crime in the region;
  • the area is suitable for childrens resting.

The participants live in camp-sites along the shoreline of the lake. They cook for themselves on their own in the field environment. They also provide themselves of camping outfits and equipment. Routes of hikes should be conformed to the Head Administrator of the expedition.

Groups of participants go by trains to Biysk City, where they change to buses and come to Lake Telezkoye and then go to their destination by water transport.

In the frame of the expedition there is a scientific and practical conference of the participants, a seminar for teachers and tutors, a concert of amateur arts, sport contests.

The best articles concerning research works of the young, articles of tutors, other material will be published in an annual book which will appear after the expedition.
